Gods Unchained is the next-gen Trading Card Game

Have you heard about Gods Unchained, the Trading Card Game that wants to compete with Hearthstone? What are the value of the most popular cards? Which decks are most used?

You must have heard of the Immutable team? Formerly Fuel Games, it was the team that created Gods Unchained, a Trading Card Game that raised $15M.

The game is still in the Beta stage but the balance period is coming to an end and you can already trade your cards on OpenSea and few other marketplaces.

Gods Unchained broke records and made a huge splash when they “unlocked” support for card trading. Using highly optimized procedures in their smart contracts, they managed to exceed the maximum number of NFTs minted at the end of November – far more than any other NFT project.

So how do players organize themselves to create the ultimate deck? What are the average prices of the cards? Is the price of cards defined by their rarity or their use?

The Gods of Gods Unchained

If you are new to the world of Trading Card Games, feel free to look at this short explanatory guide and this new player’s guide to familiarize yourself with the concepts of life, mana, attack, effects and other technical terms related to this universe.

To introduce the game, the cards are divided into 6 tribes, each with its own speciality:

  • Light : Healing and protection of creatures
  • Death : Weakening and extermination (sometimes of all creatures)
  • Magic : If you prefer spells and runes
  • Nature : Invocation of creatures in mass and regeneration
  • War : For fighters who want to combine speed and strength
  • Deception : For players who prefer cunning and complicated strategies

For each tribe, you will find a starter pack directly in your inventory so you can try out which style of play is best for you.

One of the key points for your strategy is to try the different powers of your gods. Each tribe has its own god and you will have a choice of 4 powers from the beginning of the game. Choose this spell carefully according to your deck but also according to your opponent!

Gods Unchained powers

Once you have chosen it, you will no longer be able to modify it during the game!
Then there will be the choice of one or more cards that you want to send back to your deck so that you can have the advantage from the beginning of the game.

The Cards

Like any good trading card game, the whole strategy is about how your deck is made up. From the beginning you can play with the 6 “starter deck” that will already be constituted.
They are balanced enough to start playing and allowing you to adapt to the gameplay and try different strategies.

The goal is to level up in order to get the booster offering you cards from the “Core” set that are not currently stored on the blockchain. As the game is still in the beta stage these cards can disappear or be reset at any time.

Also know that the day the game will be live everyone will start from scratch with these cards! It is not possible to buy or sell these cards at the moment, but those of the “Genesis” set have already started to be traded on different markets. The cards in the Genesis set were distributed during the pre-sale of the game and will therefore no longer be created later…

Tips and tricks

To complete the new player guide, we wanted to share with you some tips and tricks to familiarize you with the game environment:

  • Use the starter deck to level up and get enough cards from the boosters before you create your own deck. You will get 5 cards per level in this way.
  • Battle directly in PVP! There is nothing to lose if you lose. Moreover, it is always interesting to discover the strategy of the other players to develop yours.
  • If you play first, you may only use the “Bag of mana” card once during the game. If you play second, this card will be regenerated twice after use.
  • Take your time for victory. The longer the game, the more experience you will gain. The reward varies from 250 to 400 EXP and in case of victory there is a bonus of 100 EXP
  • Don’t put all your eggs in one basket! We are still at the Beta stage and the Core set cards and the powers of the gods may change at any time. So, try to create several types of decks so you won’t be distracted on the day of the official release of the game!
  • The Magic and Disappointment Decks are harder to control than the others. If you don’t want to get discouraged, start with the Decks Light, Nature or War.
  • Balance your deck according to the Mana cost of your cards. Cards costing 7 Mana can only be invoked from the 12th turn onwards. You will be significantly disadvantaged if you only have cards with a cost of 6 or more in Mana in your deck.
  • Select a power that will serve you until the end of the game!
  • Observe the cards’ families carefully. The Atlantean family for example allows combo that will increase their power radically (one of the monsters gives Ward to all the other Atlanteans at the end of each turn, another allows a +1 in attack at the beginning of each turn, etc.).
  • Between a blitz game where you will focus on the life of the opposing god to end it quickly or a game spread over time to kill all the monsters one by one and force your opponent to give up, define this choice before entering a fight!

FOMO?

If we look a little closer at the figures since the new contract, we can see that the two players who won the auction for Prometheus and Atlas, cards from the “Mythic” set, is about $30 000. These cards were randomly distributed during the pre-sale of the Genesis deck and were therefore sold by players and not by the Immutable team.

We might fear that like Hearthstone, you only have to pay a lot of money for very rare cards to be sure to win a game. Except that for the moment, this is not quite the case for two reasons:

  1. The cards in the “Mythic” set are a little special. There is only one copy of each, but their power makes the gameplay swing towards a completely different style of play.
For example, Hyperion modifies all decks cards so that they cost only one Mana and have 10 in Attack and 10 in Life! The game may therefore become more aggressive if you come across the player who has it. Atlas, on the other hand, adds 15 cards (whose effects I don’t know) to each player’s deck.
  2. The average card price is about $5, ranging from a few cents to a few hundred dollars

Given their usefulness, it looks like the priceless cards look like a meme for Whales! Moreover, it seems that they are more suitable for collectors than for ordinary players.
We can therefore believe that there has been a price boom for mythical cards due to the number of copies available on the market.

Since cards are exchanged on average for $5, consolidating the different decks is very affordable and allows some flexibility if you have to face opponents using cards that cost more.

So keep a cool head when you go shopping, the most expensive cards are not necessarily the most effective for your deck!

The market value of Cards

To help you move forward effectively in the game and avoid shameless sellers who would try to sell you any card at an exorbitant price, we have developed a toolkit to help you know the REAL price of cards on the market.

Be careful, this is not financial advice, but only a factual inventory, based on the sales of maps drawn on the Gods Unchained marketplace.

Among the proposed graphics you will find:

  • The average price of every card costing 1 MANA
  • The average price of every card costing 2 MANA
  • The average price of every card costing 3 MANA
  • The average price of every card costing 4 MANA
  • The average price of every card costing 5 MANA
  • The average price of every card costing 6 MANA
  • The average price of every card costing 7 MANA and more
  • The average price of cards per life points
  • The average price of cards per attack points
  • The average card price per tribe
  • The average price of cards per rarity
  • And in exclusivity… the average price of each card according to its powers and the keywords that make up its description! More useful than it seems… experts will understand 😉
