Review of the F1 Delta Time Crates Sale

The F1 Delta Time project has already made some huge headlines during the auction of “Apex” models which attracted 415.9 ETH for the very first licensed Formula 1 car on the Blockchain. Approximately $111,000 USD was spent on this special edition 1-1-1 F1 car. This presale gave the project the reputation it has today and set the mysterious buyer as the 6th highest non-fungible token buyer in 2019!

On the 25th of February, the project launched the sale of “Crates”, more accessible than Apex, to collect the different parts of the car in order to improve it later.

Animoca Brands, who is behind the project (as well as Stryking and several other major IPs that we see arriving on blockchains), is selling original F1 Delta Time models as well as the official models of the 2019 Formula 1 season.

Inside the hood

Without further ado, let’s take a look at what’s going on “under the hood” of the Crates. The difference in the items you get will vary depending on the rarity of the case you buy.

The cases will be ERC-20 tokens and will be burnt when opened. Nothing prevents you from keeping them and reselling them later.The assets unboxed from the crates are non-fungible tokens (NFT) based on the ERC-721 standard.

Here is a summary table of what awaits you:

• Common: $20
• Rare: $40
• Epic: $150
• Legendary: $500

It is possible to have any type of object in the crates (drivers, cars, car parts or driver gear like suits, helmets…) but the official collection of the 2019 season can only be found in the Epic and Legendary crates. The drivers, cars, or parts that you will find in the Common and Rare boxes are creations of F1 Delta Time.

There is, however, a small percentage chance that you will get an Epic or Legendary item in a Common or Rare crate.

Concerning the presale, each box contains 5 objects and several “bonuses” were announced:

• There is a 10% discount that will last until the end of the first week.
• If you share your referral link, you get 2.5% of your referral’s purchases back.
• There is a 5% discount for every 5th crate of the same tier.
• You will find one “ticket” per common crate, 2 for rare, 3 for epic and 5 for legendary allowing you to participate in a draw to win an Apex car.
• You have the ability to stake your car to generate passive income. The rarer is your car, the greater the staking will be!

Gameplay

Although the game is still in the presale stage, there is already information on how the game will be played. According to the Whitepaper, you will need three elements to be able to take part in the races: A driver, a car and tires. The rest is optional but may increase your chances of success.

• The game will be multiplayer with isometric 3D graphics (if you are looking for the definition or an example).
• The tournaments will take place on an official Formula 1 2019 track. 
• The tournament will take place in three stages: the Warm-up, the Qualifying Round and the Final Race.

As the game is still in development, the gameplay described below may be subject to change!

Before the race begins, players will be dropped into matchmaking, to go head-to-head with others in qualifying sessions. Once qualifying ends, a full grid of 20 cars (including real players) will compete.

During the Warm-up and the Qualifying lap, you will find sections on the track that will tell you when to use your braking or acceleration skills. If you manage to slow down or accelerate at the right time in the section, it will have an impact on your time score!

For the final race, on the other hand, everything will be automated. The calculation will be based on your previous ability to drive (80%) and your car’s data (20%). Having a very good car will only have a small impact on the final score, so you’ll have to give it all you’ve got in the first two phases of the game!

The rewards of each tournament will be in REV, an ERC-20 allowing you to buy more parts.

Conclusion

Whether you are a collector, a Formula 1 racing enthusiast, the game promises a “Play to earn” model for the most talented drivers. You can keep your car warm to generate VERs but the launch date is set for July! Be careful not to be too greedy and leave it too long because you won’t be able to race on the launch day.
