zoup2020-07-28

Unikname is an identification service intended to be universal, secure and confidential. By using Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS), this ecosystem is meant to be open to both the individuals and institutions.

We are super excited about the official launch of their product and organize an exclusive contest to allow our readers to win their own UnikName.

  • What is a @Unikname?
  • How can I win one?

We answer to these questions right below!

To have a chance to win your @Unikname today, you just need to enter our contest by clicking on this link!

Prizes available:

  • Two @Unikname of 4 characters
  • Four @Unikname of 6 characters

Introduction

The question of security during identification on a site or an application arises regularly in the IT world. Is it better to use:

  • A username and password?
  • A 2-factor authentication (2FA)?
  • A password manager or his memory?
  • Use the “Log in with Google” button?

All these connection solutions have flaws: memory loss, abandoned technology development, removal of the password manager, use of personal data by GAFA …

The advent of crypto wallets has taken the identification process to another level of security. All you have to do is sign a transaction to prove your identity and connect to your account.

However, the human factor is still decisive in terms of security breach:
If you install a malicious plugin or corrupt app and enter your private key into it, all of your funds will be compromised. If you have the wrong recipient for sending a transaction, you will not be able to recover your funds.

The balance between security and ease of use for the user is an ongoing challenge for developers, and even more so in the world of blockchain.

Presentation

Born in France in December 2018, the Unikname project has been able to adapt and find the answer to the real problems of these users.

In its early days, the project only sought to confidentially centralize various crypto addresses so that it could facilitate sending and receiving transactions through a “readable” name. In some ways, like Ethereum Name Service.

In an attempt to find a solution to all of the problems cited in the introduction, they have since been working on a way of universal connection.

Thanks to its operation in DPoS, the governance of the uns.network is shared between several actors:

  • Individuals responsible for securing the network (10 nodes)
  • Companies (10 nodes)
  • The Network (3 nodes)

Unikname chose to open the governance of the 23 nodes of the project to three types of actors for several reasons. Users can vote for the block producer they trust, more institutional players can contribute ideas for use cases for this blockchain.

Each of the networks has a clearly defined function:

  • Support: Fund the community by distributing UNS to those who talk about us, or perform tasks for us (Community Bounty Reward)
  • Bounty: Fund a bounty program for when the code is open-source
  • Labs: Fund R&D programs around the decentralized identifier within our ecosystem

You can find all the detail about the technical characteristics of the project directly on their website.

The @Unikname is the key element of the project. All of your login information will be saved in it, and the big advantage is that no one other than you will have access to the information it contains.

The promise is simple: imagine a “connect with your @Unikname” button below “Connect with Google” to be able to access any platform (crypto or not). Do not hesitate to take a look at the application and let yourself be guided through the installation!

In the human world, this name will only be a sequence of characters you choose. On the blockchain, it will take the form of a Non-Fungible Token (NFT).

If you are looking for a use case for @unikname, you can test it on the project forum. But also on Cryptomaniac since few weeks ago!

Unikname C.A.R.E

Unikname C.A.R.E offers a system to preserve its medical data from a hacker or GAFAM, while allowing an objective and unchanging assessment of the contamination rate of its users.

At the moment, Contact Tracing is not offered, the project focuses primarily on sensitive data such as test results. That said, being able to access your test results without going through an intermediary is more reassuring than a rushed government application.

The project is still at an R&D stage, the product is not yet live. However, the project is supported by the French Public Investment Bank (one of the biggest French public fund).

Conclusion

Unikname C.A.R.E has specifically targeted an issue and is focusing all of its efforts on it today to get the protocol ready as quickly as possible. To do this, it has launched a call for skills from various players in the medical or research sector to be able to discuss on a dedicated forum.

The advantage of such an application is that it will not only be limited to the COVID-19 pandemic, but can be adapted in the future if other contaminations arise.

We believe that guaranteeing the confidentiality of login information to be able to access the web of tomorrow thanks to a Non-Fungible Token will become more and more necessary to be able to surf the web in a secure way!

It looks like the mainstream product: UnikName Connect has the potential to re-invent the fundamentals of SSO, guaranteeing complete anonymity to its users, ensured by the blockchain.
